Should the Giro be continued?

Yesterday was a black day for the world of cycling. The belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt died on the 3rd stage. The question that occurs now is: Can the Giro be continued? After a tragedy like that the sport gets secondary. It isn't sure if Team Leopard Trek will continue the race. This years Giro just won't be the same. My deepest sympathy to the wife and the family of Wouter Weylandt.

Kreuziger wants to reach the Giro podium

Roman Kreuziger will lead Team Astana in the Giro D'Italia 2011. "Our goal is the podium. Roman is a very young rider but I trust him. I know that he is well prepared and in a good shape", said team director Giuseppe Martinelli. Our second goal is the team classification. We have a strong team with riders that can bring home good results in this classification." In the mountains Kreuziger can build on his strong supports Paolo Tiralongo and Francesco Masciarelli.

Who's your Giro favorit?

On saturday the 94th Giro D'Italia will start in Turin with a team time trial to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. 207 rider will fight for victory. But who is going to be the new champion? Here are my personal top 3:

1st Alberto Contador (Esp) Team Saxo Bank-SunGard
 2nd Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Liquigas-Cannondale
 3rd Igor Anton (Esp) Euskaltel-Euskadi

Contador with a strong team to the Giro!

One week before the start of the Giro it seems that Contador can overreliance on his very strong team. With his two fellow countryman Jesus Hernandez and Daniel Navarro and the danish cyclists Kasper Klostergaard and Michael Morkov, Contador has great support in the mountains. Moreover Richie Porte who reached the 7th place in the last years Giro could make the difference.

Just 10 Days till the start of the 2011 Giro D'Italia!

So here's a little race preview. :)

Contador is checking the Monte Zoncolan

Liège-Bastogne-Liège on 04/24/2011

On sunday the last of the five 'Monuments' of the European professional road cycling calendar is about to start. The Question is: Can Gilbert make the hattrick consisting of the Amstel Gold Race, the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
